Welcome To The Alabama Apartment Association
A Letter From Our President
As the President of the Alabama Apartment Association, I want to welcome both current and prospective members to our association and all it has to offer. The Multifamily Housing Industry is one that I hold near and dear to my heart, and to call it a blessing would be an understatement! I began my career in this industry managing a community in Montgomery and serving as a board member, the Vice President, and eventually the President of what is now the River Region Apartment Association and one of our local affiliates. In 2003, I moved to Birmingham and quickly found myself involved in the local affiliate, the Greater Birmingham Apartment Association. Starting in 2007, I had the privilege of serving as a board member for the GBAA and the chairperson of several committees before serving as the President for a two-year term, ending in December of 2015. I have served as a board member of the Alabama Apartment Association since 2009, becoming the Vice President in 2016 and the President in 2018. I am currently the Manager of Birchall at Ross Bridge in Hoover, a Mid-America Apartment community.
Our state association is comprised of four local affiliates that each cover a region of our beautiful state, from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the North to the Gulf of Mexico in the South. Each of our affiliates offers educational and networking events for both management and maintenance professionals throughout the year. As non-profit trade associations, we sponsor several local charities in an effort to give back to and support an industry that continues to support us all. If you are new to our association or one of our local affiliates, you will soon find there is never a dull moment, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
My involvement in this network of incredible associations has blessed me with countless friendships, opportunities to advance my career, and chances to learn more about this amazing industry every day. I encourage everyone who plays a role in the Multifamily Housing Industry to take advantage of all the opportunities available at both a local and state level. The network of people you will meet, the educational events and career opportunities that will come your way will certainly make you glad you did!
I have been married to my husband, Robert York for 19 years, and the mother of four amazing children: Alison, Dylan, Donovan, and Alex. My husband and my children are my rock and are a constant blessing in my life. But if you ask them, they will tell you that this industry and network of associations is like a second family to me. If you aren’t already a member, I hope to welcome you very soon to our network of associations as a member of my second family so that you see for yourself all that it has to offer!
I am extremely thankful for my opportunities to serve throughout the years, and I can’t thank all of you enough for being a part of my life and being a part of the Multifamily Housing Industry.

As members of the Alabama Apartment Association, we recognize our duties and responsibilities as professionals in the apartment industry and its related fields. We hold those duties and responsibilities in the highest regard. We are increasingly aware of our responsibility as both housing providers and suppliers of those that provide housing. As members of the Alabama Apartment Association, we recognize our duty to the public. We appreciate the importance of the relationship between an AAA member and the residents of the communities upon which we own, work or serve.
